This one was born from ashes.
Ashes & Offering is the most personal worship song I’ve written. It comes from the quiet, lonely places of my journey—spaces marked by emotional wounds, toxic relationships, and the painful process of healing. It’s a song about what it means to offer Yah not our strength, but our brokenness.
For those who don’t know, I come from a dysfunctional family marked by manipulation and control. Setting boundaries—even cutting ties—wasn't an act of rebellion. It was an act of survival. And yet, even after walking away, the memories linger. The pain echoes. The wounds don’t always stay buried. This song was written in that space: the place where I still tremble before Yah, longing to surrender everything, even the parts of me that still ache.
Romans 12:1 says, “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Yah, which is your spiritual worship.” But what happens when all you have left to offer is ashes? That’s what this song wrestles with. And it’s also what this song surrenders.
Ashes & Offering is my heart laid bare. It’s for anyone who has ever cried in worship, not because everything was perfect, but because you were choosing to trust Yah even when you didn’t understand the pain. It’s for those walking forward one trembling step at a time, holding on to devotion even when you feel undone.
